MINI LESSON
Regression
Regression is used to model the relationship between two variables.
A regression equation predicts a value of y based on a given value of x.
The slope of the regression line describes how y changes as x increases.
Regression models are commonly used for prediction and identifying trends in data.
Question 1
A student finds the regression equation \(y = 2.4x + 5.1\), where \(x\) represents hours studied and \(y\) represents the predicted test score. What is the predicted test score when a student studies \(6\) hours?
Question 2
The regression equation for a set of data is \(y = -3.2x + 48\). Which statement best describes the relationship between \(x\) and \(y\)?
Question 3
The regression equation relating temperature \(x\) and ice cream sales \(y\) is \(y = 15x - 120\). What is the predicted number of sales when the temperature is \(10^\circ C\)?
Question 4
The regression equation for a set of data is \(y = 1.5x + 2\). What is the predicted value of \(y\) when \(x = 6\)?
